We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Safety Specialist who is passionate about creating a safe work environment and building a strong culture of safety throughout our manufacturing operations. Position Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs across the facility. This position partners with leadership and employees to identify workplace hazards, ensure regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, provide safety training, and support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk and prevent injuries. What You'll Do As a Safety Specialist, you will: Develop, implement, and maintain workplace health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety standards. Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and evaluate workplace risks. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Maintain accurate records for safety inspections, incident investigations, training, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate and deliver engaging safety training for employees, supervisors, and contractors. Monitor workplace conditions, equipment, and work practices to ensure a safe operating environment. Support and audit the company's Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Conduct safety reviews of new equipment and participate in equipment safety sign-offs prior to production. Build positive working relationships with employees and leadership to strengthen the company's safety culture. Assist with emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities. Track safety performance metrics and prepare reports for leadership. Support workers' compensation and return-to-work initiatives. Recommend ergonomic improvements and other injury prevention strategies. Stay current on OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and emerging safety trends. Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2-5 years of experience in workplace safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a similar role. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards. Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively train employees. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing facility. Occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, and reach. Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Read documents, computer screens, and safety signage. Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and contractors. Work Environment This position works throughout both office and manufacturing environments. Daily activities include walking production floors, conducting inspections, interacting with employees, and occasionally working in areas with varying temperatures and moderate industrial noise. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated production areas.
