AFI is an innovative organization with proven experience in developing new products that redefine what's possible in the food and beverage manufacturing industry. Position Overview The SQF Practitioner supports the facility's food safety and quality programs in alignment with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, regulatory requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) . This role works closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure the facility maintains compliance with SQF Code requirements and food safety standards. The SQF Practitioner assists with documentation review, audit preparation, corrective actions, and monitoring of food safety practices throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities Food Safety & SQF Program Support Verify and sign off on daily food safety and quality documentation for the facility Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to ensure compliance with product specifications Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with food safety investigations and corrective actions Support the implementation and maintenance of the SQF Food Safety Program Audits & Compliance Assist with internal audits to verify compliance with SQF standards and internal food safety procedures Support preparation for regulatory, customer, and third-party food safety audits Maintain documentation required for food safety compliance and audit readiness Assist with North Carolina Department of Agriculture (NCDA) visits and required documentation Food Safety Monitoring Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout the facility Identify and escalate food safety risks or non-compliance issues to leadership Support food safety initiatives and maintain accurate food safety documentation Notify leadership of any food safety or compliance concerns impacting the facility Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with operations and quality teams to support food safety compliance Provide guidance to employees regarding GMPs, food safety standards, and SQF program expectations Assist with maintaining quality and food safety documentation systems Support ongoing food safety training and awareness across the facility Required PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Certification Experience working in a food manufacturing environment Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to work cross-functionally with quality, production, and leadership teams Preferred SQF Practitioner Certification (or ability to obtain after hire) Experience working with SQF food safety systems Experience using TraceGains or similar supplier management systems Experience supporting regulatory or third-party food safety audits Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of food safety compliance and regulatory expectations Strong organizational and documentation management skills Effective communication and collaboration across departments Ability to identify food safety risks and escalate appropriately Commitment to maintaining a strong food safety culture Work Environment This position operates within a food manufacturing environment and may require time spent on the production floor. Employees must follow all food safety, GMP, and safety procedures while performing job duties. The role may require standing, walking, or working within production areas to verify compliance and support food safety initiatives.
