Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Sanitation Supervisor to lead all sanitation operations across our facility. This role is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while driving efficiency, accountability, and team performance. This is an overnight position and requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require. The position will require weekend oversight to verify sanitation crew performance and completion of assigned work. While this role includes leadership, scheduling, and documentation responsibilities, it is not a strictly managerial position and requires active participation in hands-on cleaning and sanitation activities throughout the facility. This position reports directly to the Production Manager and works closely with the Food Safety Coordinator to maintain an audit-ready facility at all times. Key Responsibilities Lead and assist the sanitation team in safe work practices, including chemical handling, PPE, HACCP, GMP, and OSHA compliance Understand manufacturing processes and equipment design to ensure proper sanitation procedures Execute and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule; identify gaps and implement improvements Schedule sanitation staff; track attendance, approve payroll, and manage time-off requests Meet labor targets while controlling overtime within company guidelines Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of all repack area machinery and facility equipment Maintain proficiency in company systems and reporting tools Oversee employee conduct; assist with hiring, discipline, and terminations Lead all sanitation training programs (GMP, HACCP, chemical usage, sanitation processes, etc.) Develop team members for advancement opportunities Maintain accurate reports, documentation, and compliance records Maintain inventory of sanitation chemicals, tools, and supplies Plan and coordinate facility cleaning and maintenance projects with Production Manager Support offsite company operations, peak-season demands, and special holiday production activities as needed Communicate with Production Manager regarding timing, quality, and operational issues Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency and reduce costs Ability to work under the direction of the Production Manager while coordinating closely with the Food Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and sanitation standards Participate directly in sanitation and facility cleaning activities to support the team and ensure completion of assigned work Perform additional duties as assigned by Management Qualifications & Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Computer literate (basic to intermediate skills required) Must be able to work overnight shifts and maintain flexibility for weekends and holidays as operational needs require, including oversight of sanitation crews and completed work Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Experience in sanitation, food production, or warehouse operations preferred Strong understanding of HACCP and GMPs with ability to collaborate with Food Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance and audit readiness Ability to take direction from the Production Manager while collaborating cross-functionally with Food Safety and other departments This is a hands-on working lead position that requires active participation in cleaning and sanitation activities in addition to leadership and administrative responsibilities Must be able to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish Forklift experience preferred; ability to participate in the company's forklift certification program Work Environment Warehouse and production facility Exposure to cold environments, water, and sanitation chemicals Hands-on working lead role requiring daily floor presence and active participation in sanitation and facility cleaning operations
