Job Description
Sandvik Mining in Elko, NV or Brier Hill, PA is looking for a EHS Technician - Ergonomics (Industrial Ergonomist) Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, services, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling. The main role of this specialist technician will be to manage the EHS Ergonomics and Fit for Work program and work to improve the injury prevention processes and reduce Recordable Injury statistics related to ergonomics at our Sales Area USA sites. Key Performance Areas We are looking for a proactive team player who will manage the EHS Ergonomics program and work to improve the injury prevention processes at our Sales Area USA sites. As the EHS Technician - Ergonomics, you will be responsible for supporting the EHS department and sites, the Sandvik EHS Global Standards and regulatory requirements and ensure a safe, healthy and incident-free workplace. You will source and implement programs to train managers and employees in ergonomics work site safety practices, correct handling techniques of material and equipment and other potential hazards. Reduce risk of musculoskeletal disorders by analyzing tasks/workstations, implementing controls, and delivering ergonomic training. Specializing in designing workplaces, tools and tasks you will also create supporting documentation for this program.
Work Environment:
A blended environment including: Industrial/shop‑floor areas (material handling, service bays, rebuild shops, warehousing) Office settings (ergonomic adjustments, workstation evaluations, training delivery) Occasional outdoor/field conditionsKey Responsibilities:
Promote safe, healthy, and inspiring workplace environments through proactive ergonomic strategies. Identify and assess ergonomic hazards, conduct comprehensive data collection and perform detailed ergonomic analyses. Advise on workstation and warehouse work tasks to reduce risk and improve safety. Develop and implement solutions for both short-term and long-term ergonomic risk reduction. Manage the Fit for Work Program, including employees fit for work role analysis by updated current documentation and creating new ones as needed. Including Physical Demands Analysis (PDA), Ergonomics Risk Assessment (ERA), job0Specific Taks Analysis (JST) and Functional Job Description (FJD). Making recommendations for the improvement of EHS practices, business processes, operational practices and workplace design. Review and assessment of hazard and incident reporting, incident investigations, injuries and workers' compensation outcomes. Recommend measures to reduce or eliminate industrial incidents and health hazards. Produce technical reports and facilitate training sessions on ergonomic principles and practices. Provide a clear vision of the requirements, initiatives, actions and outcomes for the site, in order to meet or exceed the required EHS standards. Support management of Workers Compensation cases as needed. Maintain legal compliance with all applicable OSHA, MSHA, State and local regulations. Apply knowledge of legislative change or improvement in best ergonomics practices. Maintain documentation aligned withISO 45001.
Lead the investigation of incidents and injuries and manage documentation. Additional support to the EHS department as needed.Travel:
This role requires up to 40% travel, offering opportunities to work in various locations and engage with diverse teams and clients.Profile:
We are looking for a self-directed and collaborative individual who has strong leadership and technical skills, organized in addition to effective speaking skills. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of professionalism, integrity and credibility, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Minimum Qualifications:
1-3 years experience in an industrial / heavy equipment / mining environment in an EHS focused role, specifically in ergonomics Demonstrated success with problem solving, staying current with legal requirements and industry best practices Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Confident with independent work Combination of education and experience can be substitutedPreferred Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in Ergonomics, Occupational Safety, or environmental and/or safety discipline Ideal candidates may possess: Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) OR Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) certification or with working experience in Ergonomics. 0-3 years experience via internships/co-ops/entry roles.Compensation:
