About Jerritt Canyon The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations. The Opportunity The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for coordinating and advancing industrial hygiene programs at Jerritt Canyon to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role supports the identification, evaluation, and control of occupational health hazards through monitoring, data analysis, and implementation of effective controls. Working closely with Safety, Operations, and site leadership, this position plays a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting employee health initiatives, and driving continuous improvement in occupational health programs. Responsibilities Coordinate and support industrial hygiene programs focused on identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards. Develop and implement sampling plans, including air monitoring, biological monitoring, heat exposure and noise exposure assessments. Collect, analyze, and interpret industrial hygiene data to assess exposure risks and recommend appropriate controls. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports related to industrial hygiene monitoring, exposure results, and program performance. Support medical surveillance programs, including audiometric testing, respiratory protection, and job capability assessments. Serve as a technical resource to employees and leadership on occupational health matters and exposure risks. Develop, implement, and maintain IH policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory and company requirements. Deliver training on industrial hygiene and MSHA-related topics, including new hire and annual refresher training. Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis and ensure proper sampling methods and documentation. Manage IH systems and applications, including Cority (Medgate), gas monitoring systems, and data management tools. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including MSHA standards, MSATS and other agencies. Identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce occupational health risks and enhance program effectiveness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support safe and compliant operations. The above responsibilities are representative and may not include all assigned duties. Education and Experience Preferred Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3-7+ years of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health, preferably in mining or heavy industrial environments. Experience developing and implementing industrial hygiene programs, including exposure monitoring and control strategies. Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards, including MSHA requirements (e.g., Part 62) and occupational health best practices. Experience with industrial hygiene data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with IH systems and software (e.g., Cority/Medgate, gas monitoring systems). Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization. Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment. Professional certifications such as CAOHC or similar credentials are considered an asset. MSHA certification or ability to obtain preferred. Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
