Job Description

General Description:
The EHS Specialist plays a key role in supporting a safe and compliant workplace across all operations. This position assists with implementing and maintaining safety programs, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety policies. The Safety Specialist partners closely with production teams, supervisors, and the EHS Manager to promote a proactive and safe culture and continuous improvement in all safety processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily safety walks, regular safety and 6S audits, inspections, and risk assessments on the production floor to identify safety hazards are addressed through proper corrective action(s) and documented as required and providing daily support to all plant departments, helping all team members understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Provide support on off-shifts as needed to support safety audits, inspections, trainings, or other safety related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, chemical handling, and emergency response protocols including required documentation.
  • Conduct and document regularly scheduled Fire Extinguisher (monthly), Eye Wash Station (weekly), and Drinking Fountain (weekly) inspections or any other safety equipment as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and updating safety programs, policies, and training materials including Monthly Safety Meetings required topics.
  • Facilitate and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for employees and supervisors including management, including documentation, of PIT initial and recertification training.
  • Partner with HR and operations to track safety metrics, trends, and training completion and provide support in the maintenance of plant information boards (TVs) and AIRBO use.
  • Be a current and active member of the company Safety Committee and First Responders team and represent
APPI / SAI
at monthly Summit County Safety Council meetings.
  • Conduct OSHA required audits and manage documentation and corrective action as required.
  • Assist in the management of the PPE vending software and machines.
  • Assist with Safety Equipment Risk Analysis / Hazard Assessments as required.
  • Champion recycling efforts for the company.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years' experience in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, engineering, or a related field in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and risk assessment techniques.
  • Ability to perform inspections in various environments and basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to conduct training sessions and audits
Job Skills and Requirements:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint - and other data analytics tools.
  • Strong communications, writing (in English), analytical research, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise
  • Accountable, with a strong sense of professionalism and integrity.
  • Highly organized, efficient and able to work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Maturity, presence, sound judgment, and ability to form and express opinions effectively to cross-divisional teams including top management.

$41,600.00 - $52,000.00 per year
