Monday-Friday Rate:
$80,000-$90,000 (based on experience)
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the EHS Manager, the EHS Senior Specialist serves as the EHS point of contact for the site, with responsibility for day-to-day EHS operations, compliance, and performance. The EHS Senior Specialist maintains regulatory EHS compliance and drives continuous improvement in EHS programs, processes, and culture through effective risk management, training, incident investigation, and coaching of site leadership and employees.
Responsibilities:
Monitor, analyze, and act on EHS performance using leading and lagging KPIs and metrics; identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions to address gaps and drive continual improvement. Provide regular coaching to frontline leaders to develop their skills in hazard recognition and mitigation, root cause analysis, problem solving, and continuous improvement. Drive proactive and engaged safety culture through regular safety observations, safety discussions, Gemba, etc. Develop and implement tools in the work environment designed to reduce and eliminate risks and maintain compliance with EHS regulations. Actively participate in Gemba, MDI, and other business activities. Develop and deliver EHS training for employees, visitors, and contractors; maintain records of attendance and training program content. Assist in creating and maintaining EHS programs and procedures, per regulations, or site needs. Coordinate and actively participate in safety team(s) and first responder meetings; assume leadership responsibilities during meetings and committee activities. Promote awareness activities and guidance to workers to prevent accidents and illnesses through continuous educational campaigns. Ensure prompt communication of incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions or hazards, and EHS concerns to all levels of management and shifts. Lead incident investigations and root cause determinations and assist in corrective and preventive action implementation. Perform job safety analyses and risk assessments and data trend analyses; prioritize and complete risk reduction activities. Perform audits and inspections regularly of the workplace, ensuring compliance to regulatory standards, and local policies. Track corrective action and preventive action findings to closure. Direct emergency response planning and response. Provides necessary training to emergency response personnel. Schedule and facilitate emergency response drills. Lead the first responder team; perform first aid and CPR as needed. Promote and lead the site's early intervention process. Ensure contractors and service providers comply with site EHS requirements, including pre-qualification input and reviews, onboarding, training, and adherence to safe work practices, and support oversight for high-risk and permit to work activities. Lead management of change reviews for new or modified processes, procedures, equipment, facilities and chemical or physical agents; identify and control potential hazards to employees, the community and/or the potential hazards to employees, the community and/or the environment. Assist in the development of recommendations necessary to reduce risk to acceptable levels. Support regulatory inspections and assist in responses to agency inquiries or findings Interact with other EHS teams; engage in EHS calls and meetings, EHS Kaizens, such as events focused on ergonomic risk reduction, JSAs, machine guarding, LOTO, ASI module deployment, and other similar activities. Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of EHS equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to EHS standards. Lead and support other EHS projects and initiatives as needed. Keep abreast of pertinent changes and developments within the field of environmental health and safety. Ensure and maintain professional development and exchange via attendance at meetings, conferences and courses. Perform other related duties as required in a timely manner to meet all established deadlines with a high level of attention to detail.
Requirements:
BS in Environmental Health, Safety Sciences or related technical degree. Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and use sound judgment. Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access). Prior EHS experience within Manufacturing or related industry. 5+ years EHS work experience in Manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with
ISO 14001, ISO
45001, and
OHSAS 18001
Standards. First Aid / CPR certification. •
