The Community Safety Specialist focuses on maintaining the safety and security of veterans while working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to support daily program operations. This role requires initiative, critical thinking, and a team-oriented approach to serve veterans in a residential setting. Under the direction of the Assistant Program Director, the Community Safety Specialist (CSS) is responsible for supporting the health, safety, and well-being of veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for veterans and staff. Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of veterans within the residential facility. Provide support and operational assistance related to daily program activities and resident needs. Conduct routine rounds and document observations, incidents, and safety concerns in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies and implement established emergency response protocols. Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving skills when addressing veteran and operational needs. Work collaboratively with team members and communicate concerns, incidents, and changes in veteran status to program leadership in a timely manner. Participate in staff trainings, emergency drills, and ongoing professional development activities. Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations and positive veteran outcomes. A high school diploma or equivalent is required and a valid drivers license. We offer a generous benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and a 403b with company match.
