  • Safety Coordinator Charter Mechanical Contractors is seeking a full-time, long-term construction site Safety Coordinator to provide support in the field of a large high-tech manufacturing project.
The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and is expected to be a resource for the construction team. This position requires dependability, the ability to self-start and independently support the project team with safety related tasks. The safety coordinator will be physically active for most of the day walking to various locations on the project. A positive attitude, people skills and ability to communicate with varying levels of the company is critical to success. The duties for this position include but are not limited to: Assist with site onboarding of new hires including coordinating site-specific training. Maintain and stock inventory of site Personal Protective Equipment and safety equipment on projects. Proactively provide Personal Protective Equipment and safety equipment to the field and upon request. Ensure employees in the field have proper safety equipment and provide coaching to meet minimum protocol. Conduct initial inspections of aerial lifts and proficiency training for model specific lifts. Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual inspections of tools and safety equipment such as power cords, fall protection, fire extinguishers, breathing air and rigging equipment. Climb and perform daily scaffolding inspections. Communicate and escalate safety conditions and behaviors to safety professional or supervisor respectively and in a timely manner. Maintain site Safety Data Sheet compliance and customer chemical communication program. Review and sign off pre-task plannings and provide hazard assessment. Auditing and assisting in field preparedness for specialty work such as line breaking, hot work, control of hazardous energy and other safety programs for project readiness. Audit lockout and tagout logbooks. Perform site respiratory fit testing and training. Participate in site safety meetings and site field audits. Assist in near miss, incident and injury investigations. Documentation support for safety department. Assist with buddy program/mentorship compliance and perform program interviews monthly for new hires. Communicate, coach and motivate employees for safe performance. Job Type:
Full-time with general range of 50 to 60-hour work schedule depending on project support demands. This will be an hourly position. The project starting time is 6:00AM.
Job Requirement Preferences:
  • OSHA 30 Training or other safety credentials
  • Associate degree, construction trade experience or 3 years of construction work experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to schedule, prioritize tasks, and have verbal skills to coach construction workforce.
  • Ability to walk large distances, climb stairs, scaffolds and ladders, and occasionally lift industrial safety equipment weighing up to 25lbs.
