Job Description

Safety Specialist Scenic Ridge Company is seeking a full time Safety Specialist who is passionate about safety. For 30 years Scenic Ridge has been providing commercial building solutions for our customers in Lancaster County and the surrounding region. We provide a wide range of construction services including steel erections, concrete, excavating and steel fabrication to name a few. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for our safety program, safety compliance, environmental compliance, employee engagement and support of a safe work environment.
Responsibilities include:
Establish efficient and compliant program to ensure all new employees are properly trained in safety procedures before going into the field. Develop and enhance current safety training and ensures all employees are properly trained. Ensure all safety training records are up to date and all employees hold the necessary and applicable training certifications. Keep all compliance records up to date including OSHA logs, training records, and inspection records. Research and update policies and training to be compliant with current laws and regulations. Regularly keep up with changes in safety protocol and safety regulations as put out by OSHA and other regulatory bodies. Facilitate any meetings or visits from regulatory bodies including OSHA. Works with insurance captive and insurance broker to ensure captive compliance, improve captive performance, and implement recommended corrective actions. Conduct post-incident investigations to determine root cause and recommend corrective action to prevent incident in the future. Interview injured employees and works with employee's supervisor to counsel employee on applicable corrective behaviors. Conduct corrective training as needed for injured workers. Report on incident trends and results to the Scenic Ridge safety committee. Schedule and complete regular jobsite walk-throughs in order to evaluate safety practices throughout the company. Work with foremen and supervisors to understand jobsite operations, recommend corrective action, and improve overall safety of the company's jobsites. Work with general contractors and subcontractors to ensure project compliance. Send necessary materials, manuals, and contracts to general contractors before a project begins to comply with requirements.
Requirements:
Valid Driver's License with a Clean MVR for at least the past 3 years Proficiency in Microsoft Office Knowledge of OSHA regulations Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate with all levels. Ability & willingness to work throughout various divisions and levels of the organization to create safety accountability Ability to analyze accident data and conduct job hazard and job safety analysis Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving personnel issues
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's degree in business, safety, industrial hygiene, or related field. Experience in Worker's Compensation case management preferred
