Part-Time Safety Specialist (Construction)

SurePoint Safety is seeking a dependable Part-Time Safety Specialist to provide on-site safety support for a construction project in University Park, PA (Penn State). This is a temporary, project-based position running June through August , ideal for a safety professional looking for part-time field work during this timeframe. The schedule is expected to be 2-3 days per week (as needed). This is local position only — no travel, per diem, or benefits are provided. There is potential for additional project opportunities with SurePoint Safety following complete. Project Requirements (Penn State) Must be able to pass required background checks Must obtain or already possess a state criminal record check. Must obtain or already possess a PA Child Abuse History Certification Must obtain or already possess FBI clearance (Identgo) Must pass pre-employment and/or random drug screening. Responsibilities Conduct daily safety inspections, assessments, and audits Identify hazards and unsafe behaviors; implement corrective actions Support JHAs/AHAs and pre-task planning Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and follow-up corrective actions Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations Deliver toolbox talks and site safety training Track and document safety observations, corrective actions, and trends Provide coaching and feedback to field personnel to strengthen safety culture Qualifications Minimum 3-7 years of construction or industrial safety experience Strong leadership, communication, and written skills Ability to work independently on active job sites and manage safety documentation Comfortable in fast-paced, active construction environments Must be able to respond within 24 hours when called Preferred Credentials Degree in a safety-related field OSHA 510 and/or

OSHA 500

CSP, ASP, CHST, or GSP certification Advanced knowledge of construction safety standards Experience with contractor safety programs Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction areas Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift/carry safety equipment up to 50 pounds Schedule & Employment Details Part-time, temporary assignment (June- August) Part-time, as needed (approximately 2-3 days per week) Hours may vary based on project activity Compensation Hourly rate based on experience Additional Information Local candidates only (no relocation or travel provided) No benefits offered for this position Opportunity for continued work on future SurePoint Safety projects.
