Job Summary:
The EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance by developing/implementing programs, conducting training/audits, investigating incidents, and maintaining records to meet federal, state, internal and 3 rd party standards, preventing injuries and environmental harm, and fostering a strong safety culture. The EHS Coordinator will act as a liaison between management, employees, and regulators to mitigate risks and promote best practices in health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Essential Functions of theJob:
Program Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response) Lead employee safety engagement team and meetingsCompliance & Auditing:
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments Identify hazards, ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulationsTraining & Education:
Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training on PPE, safe work practices, and emergency proceduresIncident Management:
Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actionsRecord Keeping:
Maintain accurate documentation for incidents, training, safety audits, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and environmental permitsCollaboration:
Work with operations, HR, and management to promote a strong safety culture and address concernsEnvironmental Stewardship:
Oversee hazardous material handling, waste disposal, and sustainability effortsSupervisory Responsibilities:
None. This position will be at the SunOpta Plant in Omak, WA.Shift:
This role will be shift work. The shift will typically run M-F, but some flexibility may be needed to include weekends on occasion.
