  • 6/24/2026 Fire Safety Specialist II (Haz-Mat) As a Fire Safety Specialist II (Haz-Mat) within the Department of Public Safety, you will have a variety of responsibilities and duties which includes, but is not limited to: Provide training in hazardous materials emergency response Respond to hazardous materials emergencies as a liaison/ technical expert Develop curriculum for hazardous materials response training Attend training as needed Provide public presentations on hazardous materials safety Inspect facilities for code compliance as needed

  • A valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per
UCA53-3-202
(1)(a). An extensive background check is performed on the candidate who is selected for the position. Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Qualifications Minimum qualifications:
Certified Hazardous material technician Certified trainer or equivalent Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: Education and experience in hazardous materials emergency response Training and education in chemistry Fire service experience About the Role Location
