Job Description:
The Safety Coordinator administratively supports programs leading to a sustainable safety and health culture at Veit. Reporting to the Director of Safety, in partnership with internal stakeholders, this role will administer the company's Drug & Alcohol Program and provide administrative support for safety-related initiatives by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. A Day in the Life Overall administration of Drug and Alcohol Program including, but not limited to; pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post incident testing (DOT and non-DOT). Designated Employer Representative (DER) for Drug & Alcohol Program. Company liaison for drug and alcohol testing services agents (collection sites, labs, medical review office, employee assistance program, etc.). Leads planning and implementation efforts for Health & Safety Day annual event. Administers records for the FMCSA Clearing house and Driver Management program. Implements, maintains, and processes changes, as requested, to all Drug & Alcohol programs for all Veit entities. Administers and maintains random testing pools in partnership with Medical Review Officer. Notifies donor, schedules tests, initiates paperwork, and answers donor questions for random drug testing. Takes immediate action to report test results to internal and external parties timely as required, while maintaining utmost level of confidentiality. Scans and updates employee information into HRIS (Viewpoint) on a timely basis. Refers employees to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as needed or required. Updates and maintains testing protocols with partner testing facilities. Establishes new medical providers and/or drug testing facilities where services are not established for new jobsite and/or project requirements. Responds to testing audit requests from Third Party Administrators. Assists employees and subcontractors with proper security clearance requirements, including employee pre-qualification process as needed for specific project requirements. Responsible for administering company's PPE reimbursement program. Responsible for administering company's Medical Surveillance Program. Responsible for administering the safety SPOT Award program. Assists in providing safety data for project pre-qualifications requirements as requested and of the SDS electronic database. Assists management in generating new policies and/or procedures related to safety. Administers safety-related training as requested by Manager. Provides administrative and clerical support to safety team as needed. Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operations. Other projects or duties as assigned by Management. What You'll Need High School Diploma or GED; three to four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, etc). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must clearly communicate directions and information and speak effectively before groups as well as individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills. Ability to work with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates. Ability to read, comprehend and act on simple instructions, write simple correspondence and work in an office team environment. Ability to learn and comply with state and federal regulations, company policy, union agreements, and daily operating procedures. Ability to prioritize and take immediate action on high-priority tasks. Ability to always maintain high level of confidentiality. What Will Set You Apart Working knowledge of HCSS Safety software is preferred but not required. OSHA-10, First Aid, and CPR training preferred. Other Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check. Requires 8-hour workdays Monday thru Friday, with occasional weekends. This position is based onsite in Rogers, MN. After initial training and onboarding have been completed, incumbent will have the ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week. $25.75hr
  • $32hr The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
