Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will be immersed in the safety details for each assigned location and will perform many administrative tasks related to construction safety compliance, documentation, and training. You will work closely with management and employees to minimize workplace accidents, injuries, and incidents, which will foster a culture of "safety first" throughout the organization. Position Duties/Responsibilities Regularly visit designated sites to provide increased safety awareness and culture Serve as a primary resource for employees regarding safety-related questions, concerns, and issues, escalating complex matters to the Safety Manager as needed Conduct regular inspections and audits of sites, equipment, and work practices to identify and prevent potential hazards and develop safety metrics Collaborate with branch managers and employees to identify safety concerns and assist Safety Manager to develop strategies for improvement Assist in investigating workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence Prepare reports and presentations on safety performance, initiatives, and compliance for management review Compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies, insurance companies, etc. Collect and maintain data to ensure accurate records of safety-related incidents, training activities, and regulatory compliance documentation. Provide administrative support to safety committees and meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and documentation Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss safety performance, initiatives, and goals, providing input and recommendations for improvement Promote a culture of safety by fostering awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise all personnel on job in accordance with company's safety policies.
Position Requirements Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering/Sciences. An equivalent degree related to Health, Safety, and Environmental OR an Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or Environmental Health and Safety.), is acceptable. Experience in a safety position is preferred, one-year underground experience preferred ASP certification preferred Strong understanding of
OSHA 1926
standards and must hold a current OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction certification Excellent communication skills, strong organizational and teamwork skills Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also functioning effectively as part of a team Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and fostering a positive work environment Ability and willingness to travel in future construction projects. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to work and interact in a union/underground environment Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented and self-motivated Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, and people at all levels inside and outside the organization Proficient computer and data entry skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn various safety monitoring software. Ability to work independently and autonomously as a decision maker Maturity to address and handle confrontational situations and respond quickly to claims & incident needs Ability and knowledge to conduct ergonomic and job hazard analyses Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment Ability to collect data, establish and analyze facts to draw valid conclusions without bias. Provide and implement solutions to various levels of leadership Ability to respond to and handle confidential business and personal information/documents Other Requirements of Position Works under limited supervision. Independently determines the approach to take and the methods to use. Interprets policy in terms of objectives. Informs manager of unusual situations with far reaching implications. Major responsibilities typically require creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates with specific objectives but often few written or unwritten procedures as guidelines. Some policies or precedents for action exist. If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify the error and can moderately impact the company financially Frequently communicates with management, coworkers, and vendors Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents Working Various Hours/Shifts Candidates must be able to pass a drug test and complete the project onboarding process. The duties and responsibilities described here are not a comprehensive list, and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by company demands. This project works 10-hour shifts/50 hours per week (Monday-Friday). Overtime is not available for this position. Relocation assistance
