Job Description

A construction safety inspector monitors job sites to ensure adherence to OSHA guidelines, zoning regulations, and building codes. They identify workplace hazards, evaluate structural integrity, investigate accidents, and mandate corrective actions to protect workers and the public. Core Responsibilities Conduct routine walkthroughs to inspect scaffolding, fall protection, trenches, heavy machinery, and electrical systems. Ensure ongoing work strictly aligns with local, state, and federal building codes. Detect potential safety violations or environmental risks (e.g., asbestos, silica, poor ventilation) and recommend solutions. Maintain daily inspection logs, supplement records with digital photography, and file detailed incident reports. Issue correction notices, violation warnings, or stop-work orders for unsafe practices or non-compliant structures. Lead safety meetings, conduct orientation for new personnel, and verify that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly. Key Qualifications Must have an OSHA 30 Certification or obtain 30 days from the hired date. Certificate in Trench Safety Proven field experience in construction site audits and corrective actions. Must be able to create a construction site emergency plan. Conflict resolution training. Essential Skills Strong knowledge of building standards and regional zoning laws. Keen attention to detail and ability to enforce strict safety policies without delaying critical operations. Physical stamina to stand, walk, and climb throughout a shift in various weather conditions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for compiling reports and consulting with contractors or management
