The Safety Technician is a field-focused, non-exempt role responsible for supporting the day-to-day execution of safety requirements on active job sites involving the installation, commissioning, and servicing of low-voltage Building Automation and Management Systems (BAS/BMS). This role works directly alongside field technicians, supervisors, and project managers to observe work activities, identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety policies. The Jobsite Safety Technician does not design safety programs but plays a critical role in implementing, monitoring, and documenting safety compliance in the field.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular safety audits and job site inspections on BAS/BMS low voltage projects to ensure adherence to company and regulatory safety standards. Support site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for new and ongoing installations and service projects. Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; lead root cause analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions. Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, training logs, and corrective actions. Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure their compliance with company safety protocols. Assist in developing and enforcing safe work procedures aligned withNFPA, NEC, OSHA
1910/1926, and other industry-specific standards. Serve as a safety point of contact for field personnel and provide guidance on daily safety practices.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of experience in safety within construction, HVAC, electrical, or low voltage systems. Strong working knowledge ofOSHA 1910/1926, NFPA
70E, NEC, and related standards. Proficiency in hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and job site safety enforcement. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead safety meetings. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and adapting to changing project needs.Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.NFPA 70E
First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. BAS/BMS or low voltage systems experience (HVAC controls, access control, fire alarm, or similar).Physical Requirements:
Travel is required to work sites within the region. Field and office work required, including exposure to active construction and retrofit sites. Overtime may be required based on project demands. May involve climbing ladders, working in mechanical/electrical rooms, and exposure to low voltage electrical systems. Use hands and fingers to operate standard equipment and tools.
