The purpose of the Safety Consultant is to serve as a trusted advisor to our clients by providing strategic and tactical safety guidance and training to minimize our clients' regulatory and workplace safety exposure. This role advises our clients on developing, implementing, and executing an exemplary safety program utilizing audits, education, and reporting keeping the primary goal of injury prevention and workers' compensation claims reduction in mind. Essential Duties:
Conduct injury prevention/accident reduction evaluations and assessments focusing on areas requiring risk-control expertise. Assist clients with developing and executing safety plans in the workplace utilizing the 6 pillars of the safety program. Follow up on accidents (and near misses) to discover causes and provide recommendations for abatement and/or mitigation. Analyze data to proactively identify improvement opportunities or new accident prevention measures. Support client requests for training, site inspections, or any other safety services offered by Total Safety. Develop, implement, and execute new and improved safety training ideas and events. Convey to prospective clients the value of our safety consultative services during the sales process.
Skills and Experience:
10 + years of safety experience in the construction, oil, gas, and general industry, is required.
OSHA 501
Certification and/or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, or comparable degree will be considered. ASP, GSP, or CSP certifications from the BCSP are preferred. Familiarity with 1910 standards, with an emphasis on Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and regulations as well as the ability to independently stay up to date with any OSHA compliance changes. Preferred experience, crane and rigging operations, confined space, and permitting experience required. NCCO, NCCER, and any applicable safety credentials will be considered positives for this position. Previous experience in safety instruction is considered a plus. Able to work at various heights, the employee will be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes or gases and to changes of weather.
