Sanitation Manager Job Summary:
The Sanitation Lead is responsible for leading the activities of the Bowman Andros Products (BAP) Sanitation Team in the efficient and thorough maintenance of Plant / Manufacturing equipment cleanliness and the operation of sanitation equipment and chemicals. The Sanitation Lead will follow all Sanitation and Food Safety policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe production environment that meets and exceeds Company, customer, industry and regulatory standards and specifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform CIP and Sanitation operations on all process and packaging lines, support equipment, fillers, mixers, etc., within company policies and procedures. Follow and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Perform leadership functions such as:
monitoring, handing out and rotating workstation assignments, coordinating breaks and lunches, assisting Management with the shift and assignment schedule, acting as back up during vacations and call offs, etc. Leads and monitors the progress of the Sanitation team in efficient, thorough and safe sanitation processes and operation of equipment meeting and/or exceeding Company, customer and regulatory standards and specifications. Perform on-the-job training for CIP processes and procedures. Assist in daily, weekly, monthly and yearly Sanitation duties. Troubleshoots all sanitation process and equipment issues successfully, acting as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Sanitation and Food Safety. Cross-trained and acts as the back-up Lead for other BAP facilities. Responsible for the review, correction and verification of Sanitation Technician documentation for accuracy and compliance. Trained in chemical and safety awareness, and possesses the ability to train, advise and lead others in these practices. Responsible for accurate completion of documents and the posting of CIP times. Maintain a positive relationship between all departments and staff. Responsible for maintaining sanitation supplies / materials. Responsible for the grounds, machine cleanliness, and production surfaces in the facility. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe facility. Safely operate all sanitation equipment. Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience in Food Safety and prior CIP experience required, with a minimum of 1 years' experience in a similar role. 1 - 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing Sanitation role strongly preferred. Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required and used daily, to include the reading, reviewing, creating and revision of SSOP's, among other items. Ability to work independently without supervision. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to work efficiently and effectively. Must be able to follow all safety procedures. Must be able to work with extremely hot water and a variety of chemicals. High School Diploma or GED required. Must possess and successfully demonstrate all the qualifications and functions as listed in the CIP Technician Job Description. Ability to train all CIP Technicians and Sanitation Technicians in the efficient and successful execution of their duties and functions. Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles strongly preferred, including but not limited to 5S. Regular and reliable attendance required. The ability to obtain a forklift certification within 30 business days of placement within the Lead CIP Technician position. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities change quickly. Proficient Time Management and Multi-tasking skills. Willing to work as part of a team. Interpersonal skills (e.g. team building, conflict resolution) Takes the initiative and pro-actively seeks to resolve issues independently when discovered. Engages fully in resolving issues with equipment and improving processes. Basic Computer skills preferred. Evening, overnight and weekend work is required. Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and maintenance.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Sanitation Lead is required to work on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate frequently will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, and may involve exposure to chemicals. The teammate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and has the risk of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist and reach for long periods of time for the duration of the shift. The teammate frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, sit, crouch, or crawl. Teammates must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull, and balance up to 50 pounds.
