This position will work closely with field crews, superintendents, project managers, and company leadership to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company safety requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can identify hazards, provide training, conduct inspections, and help maintain a culture where every employee returns home safely each day. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits. Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA, and company safety policies. Perform trenching and excavation inspections and verify proper protective systems are in place. Assist with site-specific safety plans (SSSPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs). Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events and develop corrective actions. Conduct safety orientations for new hires and subcontractors. Deliver toolbox talks and safety training programs. Maintain safety documentation and regulatory records. Monitor utility installation activities, traffic control operations, and heavy equipment work zones. Work directly with project teams to identify and mitigate risks before work begins. Support environmental compliance requirements when applicable. Promote and reinforce Pivetta's safety culture and accountability standards. Required Qualifications 3-5 years of safety experience in civil construction.
Strong knowledge of:
Excavation and trenching safety Underground utility construction Heavy equipment operations Site development and earthwork Traffic control and work zone safety Current OSHA certifications (OSHA 30 minimum;
OSHA 500
preferred). Current CPR/First Aid certification. Strong understanding of OSHA and WISHA regulations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to travel between project sites throughout Washington State. Preferred Qualifications Experience serving as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) on projects. Experience with environmental compliance and SWPPP inspections. Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis. Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites daily. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to travel between jobsites in Washington State.
