Job Title:
Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Job Description The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports, develops, and enhances EHS compliance and risk management processes to improve overall EHS performance across a dynamic operations portfolio. This role develops and executes EHS compliance programs, drives understanding and engagement in EHS practices, and integrates EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist builds strong relationships with stakeholders, influences operational leadership, and ensures that environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards align with global EHS policies, regulatory requirements, and business needs. Responsibilities Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards in line with global EHS policies. Develop, communicate, and deliver EHS training and awareness programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and business objectives. Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications and active participation in EHS initiatives. Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues, providing guidance and support to site leadership and employees. Conduct investigations of working conditions and incidents to prevent occupational diseases, injuries, and industrial health hazards. Support regulated waste management activities, including consolidation, inspections, and coordination to ensure compliant handling and disposal. Perform compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory checks, and life safety audits. Execute and support compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws, regulations, standards, and customer requirements. Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to address findings, and implement corrective and preventive measures promptly and effectively. Perform risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for new processes, tasks, and equipment to identify and mitigate EHS risks. Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics and reports for onsite management and corporate reporting systems. Support management efforts to ensure compliance with corporate EHS program expectations and applicable federal and state regulations. Recommend and support appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements to reduce workplace injuries and discomfort. Establish and manage the site safety committee to drive engagement, communication, and continuous improvement in EHS performance. Drive continual improvement initiatives to reduce site safety and environmental risks and enhance overall EHS culture. Support and participate in site stand-up meetings, safety committee meetings, and floor inspections to identify hazards and ensure safe practices. Collaborate with business unit leadership to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations and strategic decision-making. Handle EHS-related information and personnel matters with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. At least 1 year of experience in EHS support, preferably in warehousing or a similar operational environment. Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. Specific knowledge of OSHA regulations, including 29 CFR 1910. Experience with risk assessment and Job Hazard Analysis for processes and equipment. Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity. Ability to conduct EHS audits, inspections, and compliance checks in operational environments, including manufacturing or warehousing. Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues. Strong communication skills with the ability to train, influence, and engage employees and leaders on EHS topics. Ability to work any shift based on business needs, including days, nights, and weekends. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing plant or similar industrial environment. Experience supporting EHS programs in warehousing operations. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Experience managing or participating in safety committees. Familiarity with regulated waste management processes, including inspections and consolidation. Experience conducting storm water sampling, chemical inventory reviews, and life safety audits. Ability to recommend ergonomic improvements and other risk mitigation measures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate metrics and documentation. Interest in supporting innovative, large-scale technical operations such as low Earth orbit satellite systems. Work Environment This role operates in a physically active environment that may include warehousing, manufacturing, and technical operations settings. The position requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and to stand or walk for up to 10 hours during a shift while performing inspections, audits, and floor walks. The typical schedule for this opportunity is a back-half nights shift, Wednesday through Saturday, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., and candidates must be available to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, based on business needs. The work environment involves close collaboration with operations, engineering, and leadership teams, with regular participation in stand-up meetings, safety committee meetings, and on-floor inspections. Standard office technology such as Microsoft Word and Excel is used for documentation and reporting, while on-site work may involve exposure to typical industrial conditions such as noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures, all managed under robust safety and compliance programs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
