Job Description

Solv is a small business that supports the mission of government clients by providing sustainable solutions based on sound engineering, science, economic, and management principles. Solv employees develop a diverse set of skills while supporting federal agencies in the areas of occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, engineering, environmental planning, energy management, and natural resources management. Solv has an immediate need for an Occupational Safety Professional to provide full-time onsite technical and programmatic support to a federal client located in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Candidates must be residing in or willing to relocate to this area. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in occupational safety, engineering, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related scientific discipline or hold a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting government agencies or other large organizations with occupational safety and health programs, including compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, and other applicable workplace safety standards. Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong technical writing abilities, and experience working with data management and Microsoft Office applications.
Job duties include:
Providing subject matter expertise on occupational safety and health regulations, standards, and best practices; Assist in writing and implementing safety programs for topics such as respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogens, and personal protective equipment; Supporting workplace safety compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, NFPA codes, and other applicable consensus standards; Developing safety program outreach, training, and communication materials; Assisting with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and root cause analysis; Supporting OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping, data analysis, and reporting; Conducting job hazard assessments for industrial, construction, and office operations to identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions; Supporting the development and implementation of occupational safety policies, procedures, guidance documents, and training programs; Assisting with data collection, statistical analysis, reporting, and management of safety program information; Preparing technical reports, training materials, outreach communications, and other written deliverables; Participating in meetings with government personnel and supporting agency-wide safety initiatives; Creating program management tools within the Microsoft 365 suite using programs like Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint Lists; and Periodically traveling to federal facilities nationwide.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field (science or engineering degree preferred); 3 to 5 years of experience in occupational safety; Knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, NFPA codes, and workplace safety principles; Strong technical writing, verbal communication, proofreading, and analytical skills; Experience working with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn government data management systems, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, and related applications; and Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative federal program team. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and currently hold or be able to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.
