JOB SUMMARY
The Occupational Health Tech works under the supervision of the Occupational Health Supervisor and Occupational Health Clinic. Provides specialized services that include wellness health screenings (registration, phlebotomy, biometrics), audiograms, pulmonary function tests (PFT's), and health coaching for corporate and community wellness, on and off site. The Occupational Health Tech assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a medical provider. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. May perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent customer service at all times utilizing AIDET. Maintains an organized, clean and safe environment for clients and coworkers. Uses two patient identifiers at each screening station and "Final Check" when appropriate. Performs patient intake of information, documents patient care and data collection appropriately in patient record. Assist medical provider with patient exams, including but not limited to patient positioning, collection of specimens, performance of non-invasive procedures, and general patient support. Accurately and efficiently uses all computer programs. Remains competent in Occupational Health screening tests including: vital signs, height/weight, body composition, registration, hearing, phlebotomy, pulmonary function tests, EKGs and other screens as needed. Providing support in Community Wellness tasks and patient care. Performs health coaching to contracted customers. Participates in committees and/or Process Improvement teams. Contributes to department budget by being fiscally sound and encourages cost savings for department and organization. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations. Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and CCH policies and procedures. Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices. Demonstrates safe truck and trailer operation by completing biennial training as travel to corporate sites for scheduled screenings is required. Participates in department/organizational projects and works with other CCH departments when needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Helps ensure Infection Control measures by utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and hand washing. Performs routine cleaning tasks utilizing department daily check list
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education A minimum of a high school degree or GED Associates or higher in a health-related field. Exercise Physiology degree is preferred. Phlebotomy, Health Coaching, Occupational Hearing (COHC), MA or Personal Training Certificates preferred. Certifications required See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy. Experience Wellness experience preferred, including knowledge of taking biometrics, phlebotomy, disease prevention, and health coaching.
