About the
Team:
The Global Risk, Security and Resilience team is responsible for managing the company's operational risks and advising the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges that may arise. With functions covering audits & investigations, business resilience (incident & crisis management, business continuity), digital risk, event security, global operations & insights, health, safety & wellness, high risk & newsroom safety and workplace security, the department covers a diverse technical portfolio leveraged to ensure risks are reasonably managed, security threats addressed and disruptions limited in support of Dow Jones' strategic goals. About the Role The Event Security Associate is an ad-hoc security resource supporting corporate events and high-visibility functions across the United States and, as needed, internationally. Reporting to the Manager, Event Security & Investigations, the associate will be available to support any events geographically in the United States and abroad on a needed basis. In instances where travel is required, prior notice will be given for the scheduled event. The position is paid on an hourly basis for all work performed applicable to the event security operations process. You will be based in our New York or New Jersey office.
You Will:
Conduct structured risk assessments for corporate events and high-visibility functions to identify threat exposure, operational vulnerabilities, and mitigation requirements. Translate risk assessment findings into tailored, event-specific security plans aligned with Global Risk, Security & Resilience standards. Partner with event leads and cross-functional stakeholders to align protective measures with event profile, audience composition, venue characteristics, and executive participation. Perform advance site assessments and walkthroughs to validate assumptions, identify gaps, and refine security posture. Execute the full event security lifecycle, from planning and vendor coordination through post-event documentation and after-action reporting. Determine, procure, and oversee appropriate contract security resources in accordance with established standards. Lead on-site briefings to align contract personnel on scope, expectations, escalation protocols, and emergency response procedures. Maintain direct contract security teams during events to ensure disciplined, professional coverage. Serve as on-site incident manager, responding to and escalating security incidents or emergencies in real time.
You Have:
Flexibility to travel and support events outside standard business hours, as required. Relevant knowledge or skills that pertain to a law enforcement or security related area of focus. A current first-aid certification to include CPR/AED. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief stakeholders and articulate risk in clear, actionable terms. Preferred Qualities Experience conducting formal or structured risk assessments in a law enforcement, corporate security, protective services, or operational risk environment. Demonstrated ability to translate threat and vulnerability analysis into practical, defensible security operations. Experience supporting security operations for live events, executive functions, or other dynamic environments.
