Job Description

Overview The Director of Security is responsible for managing a team of Security Supervisors and Officers, ultimately ensuring a safe, secure, and comfortable entertainment experience for our guests by planning, monitoring, directing, delegating, controlling, and managing all functions of the Security Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, personnel management, risk management, loss prevention, fire/life safety, security/safety training, investigations, budgeting, emergency preparedness, and disaster prevention. This role will pay a salary of $85,000 to $95,000 and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities Lead security and safety initiatives and operations including developing, maintaining, and overseeing the operation of security personnel, tools, fire systems, processes, and policies. Oversee all physical security systems in the venue, including camera systems, access control, radio communications, and security software systems. Effectively lead and manage a team of full-time and part-time employees providing 24/7 building coverage. Effectively lead and manage a team of part-time union employees providing event security needs. Incorporate training protocols that continuously develop employees and establish metrics to ensure continued effectiveness. Serve as the security liaison with the Pittsburgh Penguins and NHL to ensure security compliance with NHL protocols. Develop and maintain security policies and Standard Operating procedures. Establish positive and collaborative relationships with government entities, including Police, Fire, EMS, etc., and schedule services as necessary. Schedule security vendors (equipment, K-9 patrols, fire system) as necessary Review and update the facility Emergency Response Plan manual and quick guide, and lead and manage all aspects of emergency preparedness programs and training. Partner with community resources such as the Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services to ensure that building safety plans meet federal, state, and county requirements and incorporate best practices. Manage budget, approve purchases, and negotiate vendor contracts for security programs. Evaluate requests for security support or supplies. Work with Guest Services management team to answer guest inquiries, respond to security concerns to prevent future issues. Serve as primary security contact to event management personnel during assigned events. Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) during assigned events. Qualifications BA/BS degree in Security Management or Law Enforcement required 5-7 years of work-related experience to effectively manage, motivate, and lead security department Comprehensive ability to effectively read/write/communicate in English. Experienced manager and leader of large groups of employees. Experience as a liaison with governmental resources, including police and fire departments, and other local/state/federal resources Thorough knowledge of physical security systems, including CCTV, fire alarm systems, access control systems, and radio communication systems. Basic knowledge of electrical systems. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, recognize issues, develop solutions, and make immediate decisions under pressure. CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred. Must maintain a neat and professional appearance that conveys professionalism at all times, whether in the office or out of the office, particularly during events. Professional business attire is required when working all events. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time; ability to lift or otherwise move heavy objects. Ability to work long, irregular hours for an extended period as dictated by events and schedule, including weekends and holidays. Ability to operate a keyboard and move around the facility. Must be able to hear and speak to use a two-way radio and telephone. This position may be exposed to adverse conditions and high levels of noise.
