Job Description
Your Opportunity at the Director, Company Security Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for physical security and risk management across The J.M. Smucker Company. Responsible for the strategic protection of the Company's employees, visitors, properties and assets while managing a matrix of internal Smucker security professionals and external contract providers. Ensure operational excellence in the implementation of security programs and procedures, emergency preparedness plans and threat mitigation strategies.

hybrid, 35- 45% in person presence In this role you will: Strategic Leadership & People Management Lead and direct a team of approximately 35 Smucker security professionals across North America
- which includes both a corporate campus and over 20 manufacturing facilities Responsible for outsourced security at the plants and ensuring their compliance with Company security practices, standards and policies Establish performance standards, conduct reviews and create a culture of growth in supporting the ongoing development of the team Develop, implement and manage an enterprise-wide physical security strategy Proactively stay abreast of industry trends, security best practices and new technologies•make appropriate recommendations to executive leadership to enhance the Company's security and protection of our people and assets Provide executive leadership with regular updates on the current security landscape, external trends, emerging security threats and the appropriate risk mitigation efforts the Company should implement Ensure proper alignment among Company executives and key stakeholders to deliver on key security priorities and initiatives Ensure stakeholders (e.
- including with law enforcement, government agencies and industry associations Security Operations & Investigations Direct Company-wide physical security program and procedures Direct and guide the team on regular site risk assessments and security audits to understand the current state, identify risks and recommend plans to address any gaps In partnership with other internal stakeholders, serve as the Security lead and provide direction on investigations into theft, workplace violence, policy violations or other security-related incidents Partner with plants, HR, Legal/Compliance and Labor Relations to support a safe and secure workplace Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local security and safety regulations Crisis Management & Emergency Response Responsible for developing and implementing emergency preparedness and response plans in the event of direct threats and or physical signs of violence, active shooter, protests and bomb threats Direct security incident response and investigations with applicable partners Coordinate post-incident reviews and implement process improvements based on lessons learned Protective Operations Provide expertise and support of the Company's Protective Operations Program•including executive protection, special event security, protective and threat intelligence and technical surveillance Support internal and external trainings and certifications that team members require including but not limited to OPATA firearms, Sig Sauer & Glock Armorer certification, active shooter & room clearing, taser certification, MOAB, first aid and CPR/AED Oversee a team that provides secure ground transportation for executives Budget & Vendor Management Develop the annual security budget inclusive of technology spend, contract security and protective operations costs Responsible for the overall relationships and contracts with over ten security vendors and technology providers
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity managing large, complex teams Experience managing multi-site security operations across both corporate and manufacturing environments Expertise in security systems, surveillance technology, and emergency response procedures Exceptional leadership, communication, critical thinking and decision-making abilities Ability to exercise sound judgment with minimal direction/guidance but also knows when to escalate issues Executive presence and ability to interact and influence senior leadership Proven experience and ability to investigate incidents, analyze risks and implement required security measures Strong coaching, conflict resolution, relationship and team building skills; demonstrated ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues Experience managing executive security and travel risk management Strong collaboration skills and the proven ability to partner with key stakeholders across various functional areas Proficiency in protective concepts including secure transportation, contingency planning, threat assessment, surveillance and counter-surveillance awareness, and emergency response Experience facilitating skill assessments, drills, or classroom instruction is strongly preferred Proficiency in contract negotiation, vendor management, and budget administration Ability to obtain/maintain authorization to carry under Company policy and applicable state/federal laws Ability to work effectively with highly confidential and sensitive information Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time Right Place for You We are bold, kind, strive to do the right thing, we play to win, and we believe in a strong community that thrives together.
