Director of Safety and Security About Army Navy Country Club Established in 1924, Army Navy Country Club (ANCC) is a distinguished, member-owned private club with campuses in Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia, spanning 488 acres. With a strong tradition of excellence, ANCC offers a premier environment for its members and staff. The Security Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of all guests, members, and employees, while upholding the Club s standards of service and professionalism. Position Overview We are seeking a full-time Assistant Security Manager to oversee security shift operations at our Arlington and Fairfax locations. This leadership role involves managing day-to-day operational effectiveness of security staff, safety and security procedures, coordinating internal emergency response, collaboration with other departments, liaison with first responders, and maintaining a secure and welcoming environment across Club facilities during large scale events.
Availability:
- Weekends, holidays, and evenings as required. Key Responsibilities Oversight of security team members and supervisors to ensure full operational effectiveness Monitor club premises with focus on clubhouse, other facilities, and parking lots Function as the primary point of contact for all security-related incidents involving members, guests, and staff (including collaboration with other departments, law enforcement and other external partners) Adapt procedures to maintain an appropriate security posture Lead with professionalism during investigations and incident reporting for accidents, safety breaches, or unusual activity, including accurate and timely report writing Enforce standard operating procedures while making tactical adjustments based on activity level and available personnel Ensure supervisory staff is enforcing security policies, emergency action plans, and security officer post orders Ensure compliance with safety regulations, club policies, and local laws Mentor and correct security staff on proactive security protocols, professionalism, and emergency readiness Coordinate with other departments during a shift to support special events, high-traffic periods, traffic control, and facility access Monitor security systems such as access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and other electronic measures Perform other duties for the Office of Safety & Security as assigned, or represent the Director of Safety & Security and Security Manager when required Qualifications Strong leadership and communication skills; fluent in English (spoken and written) Valid driver s license and reliable transportation Security license (VA/DC/MD) preferred Minimum 5 years of experience in a security or safety role, with supervisory or managerial experience; prior law enforcement experience and/or military service preferred Familiarity with CCTV, and emergency response procedures Ability to walk, stand, patrol on foot, and climb stairs throughout Club facilities Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
