Job Description

TITLE:
Security Guard - Red Mesa
EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Twelve (12) Months -various night, day and weekend shifts
SALARY CLASSIFICATION
Classified Non-Exempt Salary
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide a safe and secure environment for students employees, residents and visitor; to assist in preventing fire, theft, vandalism or illegal entry.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Patrol assigned facilities and grounds on foot and by vehicle, at least three times during each shift; Inspects all doors, windows and gates to assure a locked condition; Directs traffic while buses are loading or unloading, during school hours and during various activities; Reports unusual or potentially dangerous incidents to superintendent, principal or other administrator in change; Makes radio contact with Maintenance or Transportation Supervisors, or Police for assistance, if required; Provides security for evening activities sponsored by the school district or outside agencies; Investigates unauthorized persons and/or activities; Prepares and submits daily written reports of security violations; Takes students home in security vehicle, if necessary, and approved by the administrator in charge; Posts governing board agenda; All other related task as assigned.
CERTIFICATION
CPR/First Aid; Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
MODERATE RISK OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION
Moderate risk.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Excellent verbal and written skills, both in English and Navajo; differentiation of activities that might be threatening from those that are not; ability to communicate details to law enforcement officials; good memory.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
General knowledge of law enforcement rules and regulations, governing board rules regarding security of the facilities and sites.
QuALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent;
EXPERIENCE
One-year or more, training certificates.
SUPERVISION
Must use own initiative and judgment.
RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for valuable equipment.
LICENCE:
Valid Arizona Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time; must be able to walk all sites; must be able to move quickly to or from a threatening scene, or to assist people.
