Security Guard

Responsibilities:

Patrol and monitor premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises. Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas. Escort individuals to specified locations or provide personal protection. Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven work experience as a security officer or relevant position preferred. Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety. Familiarity with report writing. Excellent surveillance and observation skills. Ability to operate CCTV systems and other security equipment. Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, and lifting.
