The Lead, Security Operations is responsible for overseeing daily physical security operations, ensuring the safety and security of personnel, students, visitors, and property. This role serves as the primary point of contact for on-site security matters, provides leadership to security officers, and supports the implementation of security protocols and emergency response procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Security- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of security officers, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
- Oversee the Global Security Operations Center and execute the duties of a watch commander.
- Patrol and monitor buildings and campus to ensure a secure environment.
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies, providing direction and support to staff and coordinating with emergency services as needed.
- Operate and oversee surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct inspections of buildings, equipment, and access points; identify and report irregularities or safety concerns.
- Maintain detailed logs and reports of incidents, observations, and security activities.
- Serve as a liaison between security personnel and management, students, vendors, and the public.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
- Support the administration of security badges and access credentials.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new hires and contract security personnel.
- Participate in the drafting of SOPs and Corrective Action Reports (CARs). Perform vehicle patrols of the campus, especially during inclement weather.
- Administer first aid, CPR, and AED in emergency situations until professional medical help arrives.
- Monitor and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Record and maintain data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and theft.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies
- Strong knowledge of physical security operations and emergency response protocols.
- Proficient in using basic computer applications (e.g., Workday, MS Office, Teams).
- Proficient in using Security systems related to CCTV, Access Control and Intrusion detection systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrated accountability and professionalism.
- Ability to foster a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Capable of drafting and reviewing operational documentation.
- Responds to employee requests in a timely and courteous manner
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques to manage and resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
- First‐aid, CPR and AED certified (or ability to be certified)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Proven experience working in an organized, methodical, deadline‐oriented environment Required education and experience:
- High School Diploma and 5-6+ years of experience in security operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in a leadership role preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess and maintain valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.- Must possess and maintain a valid California BSIS Guard Card.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
(if applicable)- Frequently required to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods, including during inclement weather and at night.
- Regularly required to use hands to handle or operate security equipment, radios, and computers.
- Must be able to talk, hear, and observe surroundings with a high level of alertness.
- Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, including administering first aid and operating emergency equipment.
- Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.
- Work may involve exposure to loud noise levels, especially during emergency drills or incidents.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts depending on operational needs.
- Must be able to remain calm and professional in high-stress or potentially confrontational situations.
Pay Range:
