Job Description

Current Vacancy:
1 position - Campus Assistant (Male lock room), 5.75 hours per day, 180 workdays per year. We are also testing for an eligibility list at this time, which will be used to fill future vacancies for up to one year. If there is a need for substitute employees, substitute positions may be filled from this recruitment as applications are received. Definition U nder the direct supervision of a site principal or designee, Campus Assistants assist in the supervision of children at designated times, thus contributing significantly to the effectiveness of the total instructional program. Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: To supervise the health, safety, and conduct of the children during an assigned period in cafeterias, lunchrooms, lunch shelters, playgrounds, bus loading areas, restrooms, locker rooms and other similar areas as assigned. To supervise, but not to organize or conduct, noon play activities which are in progress. To wipe down lunch table tops and seats before, during and after assigned meal periods; assist children opening milk cartons, opening food packages, cleaning up small table spills, and keeping a calm and controlled atmosphere in the lunchroom at all times. To assist children to observe courtesies and rules of safety. To maintain a respectful and courteous attitude toward the children. May accompany children between campus areas as assigned. May accompany children between campus areas as assigned. To assist school age children across intersections during slow and peak traffic times to ensure safety, as assigned. Physical Requirements:
Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels; lift horizontally and vertically (no more than 25 lbs.).
Work Environment:
School and classroom environment; work closely with children; outside exposure to various types of weather. This is a Dual Certification recruitment: Candidates who attain a passing score on each examination part will be placed in rank order on an eligibility list after promotional credits are added to the composite test scores of promotional candidates.
