Job description:

Job Summary:

American Thrift Stores is seeking a vigilant and professional Security Guard to help maintain a safe and secure environment for our customers, employees, and store property. This position plays a key role in theft prevention, emergency response, and customer safety in a high-traffic retail setting. We are hiring to cover the 11:00 AM to 8:45 PM shift, 7 days a week. The role may be filled by one full-time individual or split between two part-time guards (e.g., weekdays and weekends). Candidates must be available for their assigned days without schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities:

Patrol and monitor store premises (interior and exterior) to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activity Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV surveillance Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, alarms, and emergencies Enforce store policies while maintaining a professional demeanor Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily activity Liaise with law enforcement when required Conduct safety checks to identify potential risks Assist in loss prevention efforts and identify suspicious behavior from customers and employees

Requirements:

Clean and valid driver's license 2+ years of experience in security, military, or law enforcement Excellent communication, observation, and conflict-resolution skills High school diploma or equivalent Ability to stand and walk for long periods and remain alert throughout the shift Must be reliable and available for scheduled shifts (no flexibility) Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
