Role Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all guests, employees and visitors of the National Hotel. This individual ensures that all guests, employees and visitors are following hotel policies and rules. Additionally, the Security Officer protects the hotel, employees and guest property from theft, misuse and vandalism.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the National Hotel quality of service standards, and policies and procedures. Associates will be required to learn other functions in an effort to attain cross training skill sets that will help grow the overall knowledge of the Guest experience expectations. As someone who has a passion for people, and enjoys a fast-paced environment, a core duty for all team members is effectively multi-tasking, a quintessential factor to the success of their role. Enforce all rules, policies and National Hotel Standards. Protect the hotel, employees and guest's property from theft, misuse, and vandalism. Respond to medical emergencies. Call the police or fire department in case of emergency. Respond to internal/external calls and requests. Conduct security/safety related investigations. Complete security/safety related reports immediately following an incident. Accurately maintain a chronological log of activities and observations on a daily basis. Programming and interrogating guest room door locks. Service Opening and Decoding guest room safes. Conduct daily safety inspections. Conduct patrols throughout the property; be vigilant of safety hazards, suspicious acts, and guests in need of assistance. Issue keys and radios to authorized personnel in accordance with departmental policy. Monitoring the video surveillance system. Respond to alarms and investigate the cause of the alarm activation. Monitoring the activities of employees to ensure rules and regulations contained in the Employee handbook relative to safety and security are followed. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of the premises. Conduct bag checks of all employees entering or exiting the property in accordance with company policy. Monitoring the activities of vendors and contractors. Respond to all lock issues. Assist guests with directions or information. Arrange for reasonable accommodation for person(s) with disabilities. Assist person(s) with a disability. Comply with all applicable deferral, state and local laws and ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guests and employees. Implement management company and Hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e., evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following company's OSHA Hazcom, program, including safe lifting techniques. All Security officers are required to abide by all Safety rules and ensure they perform each task by practicing safe work habits. Efficiently and quickly assist guests in solving unusual problems as required. Immediately report all violations of hotel and company policy to your supervisor or department head. Escort personnel during the transfer of currency and witness cash drops when requested. Perform assigned shipping & receiving duties. All associates are required to follow the professional appearance standards established by The National Hotel. As a Hospitality Employee you must be willing to assist with all demands within the scope of what is being asked to do. As long as there is no violation of policies and or code of ethics. Security officers must be vigilant and alert at all times and cannot sleep on the job.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • High School completion and or higher learning preferable.
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience as a security officer preferably in a five-star international hotel.
  • Knowledge of Window based software.
  • Ability to speak English clearly.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Friendly and caring personality.
  • Listening skills.

Safety Requirements:
All Associates are required to abide by all Safety rules and ensure they perform each task by practicing safe work habits. Any associate who incurs any type of injury is required to report immediately to their immediate supervisor or the Security Officer on duty.
Language Requirements:
Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests. Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms. Proficiency in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers. Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the security officer is required to stand and walk for long periods of time, The security officer must occasionally lift 50 pounds and move up to 180 pounds.
