School Safety Officer (Gwinnett County Public Schools)

We are seeking professional, dependable, and community-focused School Safety Officers to support a safe and structured learning environment within Gwinnett County Public Schools for the 2026-2027 School Year. This role is centered around prevention, visibility, and positive interaction with students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain a visible presence on campus to deter and prevent safety concerns Monitor entrances, exits, and campus activity throughout assigned shifts Conduct routine patrols of school grounds and facilities Assist with arrival, dismissal, and high-traffic periods to ensure order and safety Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies Enforce school policies and safety procedures in a professional manner Provide support to school administrators and staff as needed Complete detailed incident and activity reports

Qualifications:

Previous security, law enforcement, or school safety experience preferred Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students of all ages Professional, calm, and authoritative presence Ability to remain alert and proactive in a dynamic school environment Strong judgment and conflict resolution skills Requirements Must pass a comprehensive background screening in accordance with school district standards Must pass a pre-employment drug screening Must possess a valid Georgia 24-Hour Unarmed Security Officer Certification prior to start date Must be able to meet all clearance requirements required for placement within Gwinnett County Public Schools Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required Benefits $19//hour competitive pay Opportunity to make a direct impact on student safety and community well-being Structured and professional work environment Potential for long-term placement and growth opportunities
