Job Description

Position Overview:
Ensures students and staff are provided a safe and nurturing learning environment by providing facility oversight, ensuring on-campus safety, and developing a strong culture of respect between students and staff. Culture Development
  • Helps to develop and maintain the campus culture by building strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Supports JCFA's mission and expectations at a high level by effectively modeling JCFA's 7 expectations
  • Works with the administration to encourage a student culture where diversity is supported and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership through the Pre-Enrollment Meeting and Orientation process and a coordinated school-wide PBIS.
  • Works with the other administration team members to implement strategies that will motivate and inspire students to succeed and stay in school through graduation, including but not limited to: Publicly celebrating students when they graduate, the day they graduate; Recognizing credit attainment and matriculation at least monthly; creating a monthly Family Meeting schedule to recognize successes of students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders; sending photos of graduates weekly to the network for promotion purposes.
Daily announcements to your campus and to the network when someone graduates; holding a senior breakfast twice a year to share information about what to expect after graduating.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Look for PDs and meetings that focus on student transitions, PBIS development, and building supports for all students.
  • Recommends new initiatives to meet students' needs to facilitate a successful transition into the workforce and/or post-secondary education
  • Builds community partnerships that enhance school programs and services, including, but not limited to: working with the JAG Specialist to create a list of community involvement and volunteer opportunities, track the success of the partnerships by noting which supports come from where or which students are offered jobs where, maintaining a contact file on google drive that is shared with the JAG Specialist and CAO, and working with the student support team to hold no less than two counselor/community breakfasts each year • Engages community stakeholders to assist students with contacts for mentors, internships, and job opportunities • Organizes faculty and staff activities to build a positive culture among the JCFA team Campus Safety • Supports the CAO in coordinating a variety of activities (e.
g. furniture and equipment arrangements for special events and classroom activities; custodial work, furniture/equipment set ups, trainings, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring provision of adequate arrangements and delivering services in conformance with established guidelines.
  • Inspects school facilities (e.g. buildings, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying/reporting necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
  • Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. inspection records, time sheets, work orders and requisitions, supplies, chemical storage, crisis management data, key controls, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and ensuring an up-to-date reference.
  • Participates in meetings (e.g. trainings, building leadership meetings, district meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information required to perform functions.
  • Coordinates with the Executive Director and the CAO to schedule routine preventative maintenance tasks on heating, electrical, air conditioning and water equipment (e.g. resetting controls, changing filters, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Coordinates the full range of custodial and maintenance duties for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
  • Ensures campus is orderly and secured; protect equipment and property by performing inspections of unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains safety grounds and facilities, check for broken materials, liquid hazard or fires; prepare a variety of reports and other documentation related to work performed.
  • Patrols school campus to maintain order and security; protect students, personnel, equipment and property by performing inspections on foot, and in vehicle when necessary, of unsafe conditions, illegal acts and security situations on and around school properties.
  • Responds to, investigates, evaluates and contros various security situations; assure student compliance with JCFA policies and regulations; report presence of unauthorized persons on grounds or facilities, view monitors.
  • Assists in the investigation of illegal activities; search backpacks, cars and lockers for alcohol, weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia and other related articles according to established procedures and JCFA policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations; prevent or control physical altercations; detain students and suspects in accordance with established procedures; administer first aid as needed; assist injured or ill persons.
  • Observes students during passing periods, lunch, and break periods; assure timely return of students to class
  • Controls traffic in parking lot and provide security at school functions
  • Responds to classroom call of disturbance, behavior problems or related situations; escort students to office for disciplinary action as necessary; prepare incident reports.
  • Communicates with JCFA personnel and law, fire and safety personnel to receive and exchange information related to security, vandalism, crimes, investigations or safety issues; testify in expulsion hearings as needed.
  • Investigates reports of explosive devices on campus; Investigate reports of students in possession of a weapon. Take corrective action that is applicable/practical.
  • Consistent and fair in the enforcement of all student expectations as outlined in the student/parent handbook; support faculty & staff in doing the same
