Part-Time Security Officer

Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and professional Part-Time Shelter Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for shelter residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong observation skills, professionalism, compassion, and the ability to respond calmly during emergencies or conflicts. Responsibilities Monitor shelter premises and conduct regular security patrols Control building access and verify authorized entry Respond to incidents, disturbances, emergencies, and safety concerns De-escalate conflicts using professional communication techniques Complete incident reports and maintain accurate logs Enforce shelter policies and procedures respectfully and consistently Coordinate with shelter staff, emergency responders, and local authorities when necessary Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all residents Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Previous security, law enforcement, military, or shelter experience preferred Strong communication and conflict resolution skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Reliable transportation and punctual attendance Basic computer and report-writing skills CPR/First Aid certification is a plus Must pass background screening Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to respond quickly during emergencies Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
