Job Description

Play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our diverse community! Williams College Campus Safety Services (CSS) seeks a dedicated individual to serve as a Campus Safety Officer. You'll provide security, respond to incidents, and offer support to our students, faculty, and staff, contributing to a secure and welcoming campus environment.
Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of a
Campus Safety Supervisor:
Patrol campus and respond to incidents and calls for service. Enforce college policies and guidelines. Conduct investigations and prepare incident reports. Assist with training new officers, as needed. Support dispatch operations as needed. Assess and respond to competing demands in the case of multiple routine and emergencies (including medical and psychological), in order of critical need. Enter and maintain accurate log entries, manage emails, and use technology to access, input, and organize information needed for writing reports. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to perform essential job functions, including patrolling campus and responding to incidents in various locations, including in adverse weather conditions, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods is required.
Qualifications:
Related experience/training preferred, but not required. A valid Driver's License is preferred. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Ability to handle emergency situations with excellent judgment and discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer proficiency and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology or software. Cultural competency and sensitivity, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with a broad spectrum of individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Possesses strong people skills, patience, and a willingness to assist others, with a perceptive and empathetic approach.
Schedule:
Hours:
7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
  • including a rotating schedule of four days on, and two days off to include 8
  • hour and 10-hour shifts.
Flexibility for overtime, mandatory shifts, holiday hours, and emergencies. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department.
Benefits:
This position offers a full benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement, and tuition assistance toward degree programs or other continuing education. The pay range is from $21.00 to $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for premium pay, including overtime and applicable shift differentials, for work performed during holidays, weekends, emergency snow response, and other qualifying shifts.
