Access Security Officer Akamai Intelligence LLC Linthicum Heights, MD Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Security Full Job Description Job Title Access Security Officer (ASO) - DCSA Company Akamai Intelligence Location Linthicum, MD Clearance Active Secret, eligible for Top Secret Position Overview Akamai Intelligence is seeking an Access Security Officer (ASO) to support the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The ASO will be responsible for front-line physical security screening, access control, and monitoring of security systems to ensure a safe and secure environment for personnel, visitors, and assets. Key Responsibilities Serve as the initial point of contact at the lobby desk and other designated posts, ensuring all access control requirements are met. Perform physical security screening and access control using: metal detection equipment, X-ray equipment, and advanced imaging technology equipment. Conduct beginning-of-day and end-of-day checks in accordance with established procedures and Post Orders. Perform escort duties for visitors, vendors, and other personnel as required. Operate and monitor the access control system, including generating reports, issuing temporary badges, and monitoring access events. Conduct security patrols in accordance with established routes and schedules; observe, detect, report, and respond to suspected or apparent security violations. Accept and log packages and courier deliveries for the facility in accordance with security procedures. Maintain key control for all government-provided keys and ensure proper documentation and accountability. Answer telephones, take messages, and route calls to appropriate staff members in a professional manner. Monitor and operate security and facility systems, including intrusion detection systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV), automated access control systems, communications systems, and other protection devices or facility equipment. Follow all applicable security policies, Post Orders, and government and company procedures, and promptly report incidents, irregularities, or safety hazards. Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of security screening experience in a government, military, or similar high-security environment.
Hands-on experience operating:
Metal detection equipment X-ray screening equipment Advanced imaging technology equipment Strong understanding of physical access control principles and procedures. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and perform duties in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with government personnel, visitors, and teammates. Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and sound judgment in security-sensitive situations. Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance and meet all suitability requirements for work on-site at Fort George G. Meade. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience supporting DCSA, DoD, or other federal security programs. Prior military, law enforcement, or equivalent security experience. Familiarity with intrusion detection, CCTV, and automated access control platforms (e.g., badge systems, video management systems). Current security or protection-related certification (e.g., ASIS, state guard card/license, where applicable). Work Environment & Physical Requirements On-site position in a controlled access federal facility. Ability to lift and move equipment or packages up to [insert weight, e.g., 25-35 lbs], as required. Ability to stand, walk, and perform screening and patrol duties for the majority of the shift. May require shift work, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours to support mission requirements.
