Dearborn, MI Job Details $17 - $19 an hour 4 hours ago Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officers to join our team. School Security/Hall Monitor staff work at the high school to support the safety and security of students, staff and visitors. Reports to District Manager and Principals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, employees, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to security, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed and that any potential threats are identified and addressed promptly. Responsibilities Monitor and patrol school areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity. Operate surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to maintain oversight of premises. Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, ensuring a swift resolution to any incidents. Enforce school policies and procedures while providing excellent customer service to all students, visitors, and staff on-site. Conduct regular patrols of the facility to identify potential security risks or hazards. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary and assist in investigations as required. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations in the security log app. Provide first aid and CPR assistance as needed in emergency situations. Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize theft or damage to property. Patrols hallways and other areas of the school building, parking lots and campus Regularly check perimeters to maintain building security. Provide security at school entrances and check visitors for proper identification. Report violations of standards of behavior to appropriate administrators Assist with fire drills, assemblies, recess/lunchroom supervision, etc. Intervenes in student conflicts and takes appropriate action. Interacts with students, teachers and other personnel as needed to resolve issues as they arise. Support all district safety and security protocols and policies. Performs related duties as assigned. Maintain radio communication with office staff, administration, and other security personnel. Respond to emergencies including fights, intrusions, fire alarms, or medical situations. Document incidents, concerns, and safety-related observations using district-approved systems. Build rapport with students through visible, respectful presence and positive engagement. Collaborate with counselors, deans, social workers, and school resource officers as needed. Ensure that all exterior doors are secured during school hours and help maintain a safe perimeter. Support arrival and dismissal procedures, including traffic and crowd management. Attend required trainings, safety briefings, and professional development sessions. Requirements Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred. Knowledge of surveillance techniques and equipment operation (CCTV). Strong conflict management skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable. Excellent observational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
