In this vital role, you will be responsible for implementing security protocols, monitoring surveillance systems, managing conflict situations, and ensuring rapid response to emergencies. Your ability to build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness and proactive approach to maintaining an upbeat environment will help create a safe place where everyone can thrive. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on safety operations through active engagement, relationship building, and expert oversight. Duties Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV to identify potential security threats or irregular activities Conduct regular patrols of premises to ensure safety protocols are being followed and identify hazards Respond swiftly to incidents or emergencies, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as needed Respond to calls from neighbors within a 1 mile radius of the VAC Opportunity Campus if a unhoused guest is lost, experiencing a medical issue, or generally loitering on the property. Manage conflict situations with professionalism, employing conflict management techniques to de-escalate issues Perform first aid and CPR when necessary to provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies Enforce loss prevention measures by inspecting for theft or vandalism and reporting suspicious activities Maintain detailed incident reports, security logs, and surveillance records for accountability and review Experience Proven experience in working with individuals experiencing homelessness, trauma informed care, advocacy, crisis intervention, or security roles Knowledge of surveillance technology such as CCTV systems Certification in first aid and CPR is highly preferred; additional certifications in conflict management and trauma informed care are advantageous Familiarity with security procedures, emergency response protocols, and conflict resolution techniques Ability to remain calm under pressure while making quick decisions during emergencies or security breaches Join us as a Safety and Security Specialist to help foster a safe environment where everyone feels protected.
