POSITION SUMMARY
This is physical security work involving the application of basic patrol and surveillance techniques to protect federal and state resources and facilities. The work involves contact with federal, state and military employees and the general public. The work is performed in accordance with established security procedures and operating instructions. It entails responsibility for making decisions and exercising sound judgement in responding to security incidents and neutralizing threats to federal and state facilities or resources. The inherent nature of this work requires duties to be performed at night, weekends and holidays. Frequent shift rotation or reassignment is not uncommon. This position is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Perform duties as Resource Protection Officer.
- Inspects security posts, offices, work areas, equipment and vehicles.
- Ensures compliance with Resource Protection Plans.
- Controls entry and exit of personnel, vehicles, and equipment through entry points to facilities and parkingareas.
- Prepares variety of job-related reports and documentations.
- Performs duties as intrusion detection equipment monitors and operates communications equipment.
- Conducts searches of persons, vehicles, and property within jurisdictional limitations and in accordance withgoverning directives.
- Apprehends suspects who have violated applicable regulations and policies and provide for their detentionrelieved by higher authority.
- Provides visitor and crowd control on a routine and emergency basis.
- Qualifies annually with primary duty weapon.
- Provides emergency response and assumes responsibility for situations until key personnel are notified and is relieved by higher authority.
- Performs additional duties as directed by the Deputy Chief of Security.

Must be 21 years old or older to apply. High school graduate or GED equivalent; one year (12) months full
- time paid experience in physical security, general security, or law enforcement; 12 (12) months military service as traditional guards/reservist, after award of compatible AFSC or Army MOS, is considered equal to twelve (12) months full-time paid military or civilian experience.
Qualify for and maintains National Agency Security Check; possess valid driver's license and if authorized to operate a government vehicle; knowledge of basic first aid, fire prevention, safety and radio communications procedures; must be physically able to perform all duties; never been convicted of felony.
