Kanna CBD operates premium cannabis retail stores across the Charlotte area. We are committed to delivering quality products in safe, welcoming retail environments for our customers and team members. We are looking for a dependable, experienced security professional to help protect our people, our product, and our property. Position Summary We are hiring a licensed, experienced Unarmed Security Officer to secure The Kanna Collective retail locations on an evening/overnight schedule. This is a flex location role: you will rotate between assigned Kanna stores in the Charlotte area, providing a visible deterrent presence, conducting patrols, documenting activity, and assisting store staff with light operational duties. Asset protection and loss prevention are central to this role. AT KANNA YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Regularly patrol and monitor the interior and immediate exterior of the business to ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and the premises. Crowd Management:
Observe and manage guest behavior to prevent disturbances, address any potential conflicts calmly and professionally, and ensure a positive atmosphere. Policy Enforcement:
Enforce Kanna Collective's policies and procedures, including those related to responsible cannabis consumption and general conduct. Access Control:
Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorized individuals are on the premises, checking identification as needed. Incident Response:
Respond appropriately and effectively to any security incidents, accidents, or emergencies, following established protocols and escalating to management or law enforcement when necessary. Conflict Resolution:
De-escalate potentially tense situations through clear communication and professional demeanor. Safety Checks:
Conduct routine checks of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency exits) to ensure they are accessible and in proper working order. Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual activities. Collaboration:
Work closely with bar staff, management, and other team members to ensure seamless operations and a unified approach to safety and security. Guest Assistance:
Provide general assistance to guests, such as directions or answering basic inquiries, while maintaining a security-focused awareness. Opening/Closing Assistance:
May assist with light opening or closing security-related tasks as directed. THIS ROLE REQUIRES
… 2+years previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred. Strong observational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Ability to enforce rules and policies fairly and consistently. Basic knowledge of security procedures and safety practices. Ability to write clear and concise incident reports. Professional and respectful demeanor. Must be at least 21 years of age. Conduct regular interior and exterior foot patrols of assigned store locations throughout your shift. Provide a visible, professional security presence to deter theft, vandalism, and disruptive behavior. Monitor customer and staff activity; identify and respond to suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or policy violations. Document all incidents, observations, and irregularities in clear, accurate written and/or digital shift reports. Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, disturbances, medical incidents, and emergencies. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing entrances, checking locks, and escorting staff to vehicles when requested. Enforce store policies and support staff with crowd or customer management as needed. Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary and provide accurate incident details. Required Qualifications Active, valid North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (NCPPSB) Unarmed Security Guard registration / license. Completion of all mandatory NC unarmed security training requirements. Prior security officer experience (retail, commercial, or similar environment). High school diploma or equivalent. Valid NC driver's license and reliable transportation (required for flex location coverage). Clean background check and pre-employment drug screening. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods — full shifts on your feet, includingsignificant walking during patrols. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write clear, professional incident reports. Professional appearance and demeanor. Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
