Adjunct/Part-Time Job Description The Part-Time Instructor, Fire/Rescue (High School) is under the direction of the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director and responsible for preparing and delivering of certification and non-certification fire courses in accordance with guidelines from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and other duties as assigned. Essential Duties Summary Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the Fire/Rescue education program Maintain required program documentation including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums Update and maintain files as requested by the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: High School campus, L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), during morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Assist with the coordination of courses in Anson and Union County Coordinate the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position Assist the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director in maintaining a roster of qualified adjunct instructors for the program Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short- range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director, the Department Chair for Public Safety, the Dean of the School of Health and Public Services, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer Required Qualifications High School Diploma Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fire Service North Carolina OFSM Qualified Fire Instructor I, qualified to teach the Firefighter I&II class Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited institution North Carolina OFSM Qualified Fire Instructor II Experience teaching classes in the NC Community College System Qualification to teach
