About Us Renfrow Security is a professional contract security provider serving commercial, residential, and special-use clients throughout the Raleigh-Durham area. We focus on high-quality service delivery, officer professionalism, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, their employees, residents, and visitors. Position Summary We are seeking professional, experienced Armed Security Officers to join our team in the Raleigh/Durham area. The ideal candidate will present a polished, customer-service-oriented demeanor while maintaining a strong and confident security presence at assigned sites. Current North Carolina PPSB armed registration is strongly preferred; we may assist qualified candidates with upgrading from unarmed to armed status. Patrol assigned interior and exterior areas to deter theft, violence, and other criminal activity Carry and safely handle a duty firearm in accordance with North Carolina PPSB regulations and company policy Monitor access control points, verify identification, and manage visitor/contractor entry Observe and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, and policy violations in clear written reports Monitor cameras and security systems as required by site post orders Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and emergencies, including potential high-risk situations De-escalate conflicts when possible using verbal skills and presence before higher levels of force Complete detailed daily activity reports and incident reports in a timely and accurate manner Communicate effectively with site management, company supervision, law enforcement, and emergency responders as needed Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age (armed officer requirement in North Carolina) High school diploma or GED United States citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to pass criminal background check, drug screen, and meet North Carolina PPSB eligibility standards Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods and work both indoors and outdoors Strong verbal and written communication skills Professional appearance and demeanor (company-issued uniform required while on duty) Required / Preferred Licensing and Experience Current North Carolina PPSB Armed Security Officer registration (or ability to obtain) Successful completion of NC unarmed security officer training and the required NC PPSB 20-hour firearms training course (or equivalent, if upgrading) Previous armed security, law enforcement, military, or high-volume security experience strongly preferred Experience with report writing, incident documentation, and basic computer or mobile apps Schedule and Pay Full-time schedules with 40+ hours per week; overtime opportunities may be available based on site needs Various shifts may be available (days, evenings, overnights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays depending on assignment) Pay range: $18.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience, risk level of the assignment, and site requirements Training Company-provided initial and ongoing training on post orders, site procedures, emergency response, and customer service Support for required annual firearms requalification and continuing education for armed officers, in accordance with NC PPSB regulations How to Apply Please submit your application through Indeed with a current resume, including: Contact information Work history (especially any security, military, or law enforcement experience) Details of current NC PPSB unarmed/armed registration and any additional certifications (CPR/First Aid, de-escalation, defensive tactics, etc.) Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview and further screening.
