Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education, Public Health, Human Services, Criminal Justice or a related field, or an equivalent number of years of work experience in a related field. 3-5 years of experience in an educational setting or law enforcement/public safety or security related role. Understanding of school safety practices and procedures. Possesses excellent communication skills in a variety of mediums (speaking, listening, and writing) to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively. Proficiency in standard office communication platforms such as Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite.
Specific Core Function:
The School Safety Facilitator, in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, is responsible for promoting, coordinating, and maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role works closely with school administrators, mental health staff, emergency responders, and the broader school community to implement safety procedures, address concerns, and strengthen safety culture throughout the Manchester School District. Responsibilities of the
Position:
Monitor the anonymous reporting portal for incoming reports and alerts concerning school safety and ensure information is handled sensitively and shared only with appropriate personnel. Triage reports to determine the appropriate action and follow-up required under the guidance of the District lead for the school Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management process and teams. Conduct Title IX investigations involving staff and students and collaborate with school administrators to address and resolve reported concerns effectively, while maintaining confidentiality. Conduct follow-up actions on reports that require further attention or intervention for threat assessment and Title IX. Maintain current knowledge of school referral pathways for intervention and support. Under the direction of District leadership, provide middle and high school students with age-appropriate school safety and violence prevention instruction, and ensure students are aware of the anonymous safety concern reporting form Ensure compliance with CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) regulations and juvenile privacy laws. Safeguards student records and personally identifiable information in compliance with District policy. Liaise with the Police Department and other relevant agencies to address safety concerns impacting the school community. Manage implementation of the Emergency Operations Plan to enhance emergency management protocols, and track school implementation of required drills and protocols. Assist with the planning and implementation of technology and physical security efforts within the district. Monitor and analyze threat assessment and school safety data to assess fidelity of implementation and identify areas for improvement. Collect data for any state or Federal grants that are supported by this position. Present updates, findings, and recommendations to District leadership and department heads.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is a non-affiliated 200 day position and will work from the 3rd week in August through the last week day in June each school year. The position will follow the school calendar for holidays and school vacations the rest of the year and will work a 6 hour day (not to exceed 1352 hours a year). This position is eligible for health and dental benefits and is not eligible for the Manchester City or State of NH Retirement system. This position is grant funded and contingent upon continued funding.
