Security Guard

The Jewish Theological Seminary is seeking a Security Officer to join our Security Department. This position includes shifts from Sunday through Saturday, totaling at least 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime and holiday work as needed. The Security Officer reports to the Chief of Security, the Security Lieutenant, and the Security Sergeants.

Position Summary:

Responsible for protecting the safety of students, staff, visitors, and property across the campus

Requirements:

Valid New York State Security Guard License Completion of 8-hour and 16-hour training courses Maintain annual 8-hour recertification Willing to obtain

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a safe and secure environment while maintaining a professional and courteous presence Stand for extended periods while assigned to posts Communicate clearly with strong written and verbal skills Follow all access control procedures to ensure proper entry and exit Monitor security systems and surveillance equipment Maintain accurate logbook and memo book entries for all incidents and activities Use computers effectively, including email, Word, Excel, and Outlook Respond to emergencies and offer assistance, including first aid cases. Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety and security Report unsafe conditions to Security Supervisors and the Facilities Office in a timely manner Report maintenance issues to the appropriate staff promptly Perform other duties as assigned
