Job Description

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is excited to welcome committed Security Officers to take on the role of Event and Traffic Safety Staff. This fulfilling opportunity allows you to help manage patrols, traffic flow, and emergency communications while also delivering top notch customer service to create a positive experience for everyone. This position supports safety and security operations at the Farm Show Complex by monitoring facilities, managing traffic, and responding to incidents. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting visitors, efficiently communicating with staff, and completing various important daily duties. As an Event and Traffic Safety Staff member, you will perform the following tasks:
Facility Patrol:
Perform patrols of buildings, parking lots, and grounds to maintain safety
Traffic Control:
Manage parking areas, maintain traffic flow, and support event-related vehicle movement
Customer Service:
Provide clear information and helpful assistance to visitors and event participants
Emergency Response:
Communicate quickly during incidents and assist with directing emergency teams
Report Writing:
Record daily activities, incidents, and important information in activity logs
Equipment Handling:
Use and distribute security equipment as needed for assigned shifts Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description .
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Temporary, full-time employment from July 2026 through March 2027.
Available shifts:
3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Thursday - Monday, with a 30-minute lunch. 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Friday - Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Experience working in crowds. Experience working at large-scale public events. Experience working in security or traffic management.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
