FromAdmin=true&AppliTrackJobId=258 Position Summary Wyoming Valley West School District is seeking a dependable and community-oriented School Security Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for a retired state trooper or retired law enforcement professional who values public service, mentorship, and proactive safety practices. The successful candidate will combine strong security awareness with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and school personnel. Key Responsibilities Provide visible security presence throughout school buildings and grounds Monitor entrances, visitor access, parking areas, and school events Assist with emergency response procedures, lockdown drills, and crisis management Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families Identify and report safety concerns or suspicious activity Support enforcement of school safety policies and procedures Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and district administration when necessary Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate documentation Help de-escalate conflicts using sound judgment and communication skills Promote a welcoming and respectful school environment Qualifications Act 235 certification required Retired state trooper, police officer, sheriff's deputy, or other law enforcement background Experience in community policing, investigations, crisis response, or school safety preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations Valid driver's license and clean background record CPR, First Aid, and emergency response certifications preferred
Pay:
$30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year Application Question(s): Do you an Act 235 certification?
