GED Patrolling Security Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment on school property. Working under the direction of school administration, this position focuses on the protection of students, staff, and school facilities. Duties include monitoring entrances and hallways, patrolling school grounds, responding to disturbances or incidents, and assisting with emergency procedures. The officer serves as a visible deterrent to misconduct, enforces school rules, and may assist in conflict resolution. Strong observation skills, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff are essential for success in this role. This is not an all-inclusive document. Qualifications:
One of the following is required: o Prior law enforcement experience as a police officer certified under PA Act#120 or as a PA State Trooper. o Recent graduate of PA Municipal Police Academy. o 3 years of experience as a Security Officer. History of appropriate de-escalation techniques and use of force decisions. A commitment to physical fitness, firearms and self-defense training, and ongoing learning is required. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Significant law enforcement experience is a plus. Ability to use security access control systems, surveillance systems, and computers, including Microsoft Office and Google Mail is desired.
Working Conditions:
40+ hours per week during the school year. Attendance is required at after school meetings and events with advance notice. Working with young children often entails close contact and exposure to diseases and infections, such as colds and influenza as well as exposure to loud sounds and high noise levels. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to: This position requires minimal travel for occasional meetings, training, or events. Perform moderate lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 pounds. See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors on a regular basis.
Job Function:
He/she will be the First Responder for any threats to the students, staff, or facility. Will be the First Responder for any threats to the students, staff, or facility. Must have a commitment to physical fitness, firearms and self-defense training, and on-going learning. Provides emergency response services for known or perceived threats, coordinates a response as directed by the Superintendent and/or building administrators, and works with police, fire and EMS units to mitigate the threat with a minimal disruption to student services. The officer will provide a soft entry control/greeter position in the front lobby, patrols of the exterior and interior if requested, and perform other security-related duties to support the school's administrative team.
He/she will provide:
ID checks, be a deterrent to criminal behavior targeting the school's students, staff, or visitors. Responsible for volunteer clearances, emergency management plan, lockdown drills, and coordination with local police force. Also assists with locating students and answering phones.
Physical Demands:
Stand at assigned stations and patrol assigned buildings and grounds for long periods of time. Immediately respond to an emergency in any part of the facility. Restrain/detain aggressive intruders and trespassers. Operate controls necessary for security camera system and two-way radios.

Adheres to school policies and ethical standards, setting a positive example within the educational community. This includes punctuality, professional appearance, adherence to call off guidelines, etc. Participate in professional development and training courses.
