JOB OVERVIEW
 The Safety Team Member is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of people, equipment, and buildings on the property. This role includes monitoring activity throughout the facility, conducting safety inspections and patrols, and responding to situations that require redirection or immediate intervention to reduce risk and improve safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Be a calm and welcoming presence to all who enter The Mission, establishing open communication, active listening, empathy and patience while upholding the values of The Mission. Maintain and reinforce safety and security practices in daily operations, working closely with the Welcome Center and other departments as needed. Monitor entrances and/or checkpoints and assist in enforcing access control measures by answering doorbell, verifying credentials of individuals requesting access, and performing approved searches with the purpose of preventing access of unauthorized people and/or introduction of weapons, and other non-permissible substances/items. Identify and communicate safety and security concerns and suggestions to supervisor as appropriate. Conduct formal and informal inspections and patrols of the building and campus grounds and take action necessary to respond to and report questionable activity discovered which may include hazardous situations, trespassers, illegal activity, etc. Assist with managing, monitoring, logging, and storage of resident property according to storage and use protocols. Assist with property and room inspections as directed. Complete required logs, incident reports and other documentation as assigned. Participate in required safety and security training. Monitor and be competent in the use of security surveillance equipment, communication devices such as the two-way radios and all emergency alarm systems. Stay alert and respond to all calls, alarms and suspected activity as deemed appropriate. Cooperate with law enforcement and probation/parole authorities, when assistance is necessary. Utilize verbal de-escalation skills with residents in crisis and/or conflicts. Should the situation continue to escalate, use discretion to call law enforcement. Administer urine drug screens (UDS). Provide assistance within capabilities which may include Administering Basic First Aid during a medical emergency, administering Naloxone during suspected overdose, and calling for an ambulance.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required. Previous experience with safety/security field required. Ability to think critically, make quick judgment decisions, and enforce program rules and policies in a calm and respectful manner. Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, bend, reach, and climb stairs as needed, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
